I thought Id share a few winter photos with my friends at DA.....just a little bit of what Ive been up to.
This is the natural sky color and how it looked to the naked eye at nightfall. The sky was cloudy in this photo which was taken right at 4:20 pm Alaska Standard time. The light from the sun - filters through the atmosphere at an almost horizontal level due to the suns' very low position on the horizon in our very short arctic days - and reflects this intense blue spectrum creating this striking blue sky in combination with the electric lighting along the pathway. In these far northern latitudes in the winter, darkness occurs VERY rapidly, changing from light to dark within several minutes so in order to get this sky coloring - one has to take shots very quickly.
